Another Orphan Story?
No, I’m not an orphan.
Yes, I did say Zo’s Quest is my story, “it’s my life’s journey made into a parable.” So if I’m not an orphan, why did I write another orphan story…
I have a slew of personal reasons that absolutely justify my decision. But even placing those aside, I simply believe that the orphan story is a core theme of humanity.
It is innately human to seek meaning, identity and affirmation, as though our very DNA is hardwired to interpret life from an orphaned state…
As a Christian I choose to believe this instinctive longing is a byproduct of our obligatory separation from our holy Creator.
The orphan story is the human story.
Everyone can relate to it, even if you come from the perfect family. We all still seek purpose, we all still struggle with our identity, we all still desire declarations of loyalty, commitment and affection…
These things are not intrinsic to survival, but they are absolutely necessary for our survival.
So, yeah, Zo’s Quest is another orphan story.
